SCDOR agents arrested a Bluffton woman on Wednesday and charged her with operating without a retail license.
Bethany Boles Hewitt, 49, of Bluffton, operated Hewitt Oaks, an event and wedding venue in Bluffton. On February 12, 2025, the SCDOR revoked the retail license for Hewitt Oaks because of unpaid business taxes. According to an arrest warrant, Hewitt continued to conduct events and weddings without a retail license.
If convicted, Hewitt faces a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail and/or a $200 fine. She is being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
