The statewide Sales Tax rate is 6%. Different industries and municipalities in South Carolina may have additional Sales Taxes that apply.

Effective March 1, 202​5:

  • Beaufort County’s County Green Space local tax is expiring. (New Sales Tax rate: 6%)

Effective May 1, 2025:

  • Georgetown County is adding a new Capital Projects local tax. (New Sales Tax rate: 7%)
  • Horry County’s Capital Projects local tax is expiring, and it is adding a new Transportation local tax. (Sales Tax rate remains 8%)
  • Jasper County is adding a new Transportation local tax. (New Sales Tax rate: 9%)
  • Sumter County is adding a new Capital Projects local tax. (New Sales Tax rate: 8%)
  • Williamsburg County’s Capital Projects local tax is expiring. (New Sales Tax rate: 7%)

Effective July 1, 2025:

  • Clarendon County's 1% School District Tax is expiring. ​(New Sales Tax rate: 7%)
