The SCDOR warns South Carolinians to watch out for text messages claiming to be from the SCDOR and asking for personal or financial information. These text messages are scams. The SCDOR will never text you asking for sensitive data.
One text scam that was recently reported to the SCDOR falsely promises recipients a refund if they click a link and provide the requested information by October 29, 2025. The recipient is told that they will forfeit this money if they don’t submit their information by the deadline. Again – this text message is a scam.
